Annual SWE Connecticut Scholarship Dinner
Please join us in recognizing and celebrating our Scholarship winners at our Annual Jean R. Beers Scholarship Dinner. Our keynote speaker for the evening will be Sue McKinney, Vice President of Engineering at Pitney Bowes. Ms. McKinney is responsible for Worldwide Mailing Solutions Management (MSM) and Document Messaging Technology (DMT) Engineering. She will talk about her career choices and discuss the challenges of changing established corporate cultures.

Cost: $25 – Students and SWE Members; $30 – Non SWE members

High School Merit Certificate Mailing
Please join us on Thursday, Feb 24th in Shelton to prepare our annual High School Merit Certificates for mailing.
Every year, our section mails award packages, including SWE certificates, to local high schools. The assembly of the materials doesn’t take long, and it’s a nice excuse to get together with our friends and colleagues.

Come to the Effective Communications Workshop on October 2

Since 93% of communication is non verbal and people usually only recall 50% of what they just heard, we all need to be the best communicators we can be. This module discusses and practices the difference between ineffective and effective communication skills. It provides resources on all aspects of communication from interpersonal, to body language, to electronic messaging.
Please join us for this SWE Leadership Coaching Module on “Effective Communications” with Guest Speaker Darlene Yerdon from IBM Corp. on Thursday, October 21st in Shelton, CT.

Leadership Seminar Details
Girl Scout Event on October 15th & 16th
SWE Connecticut is participating in a Girl Scout Event and we need your help! This is a great opportunity to be a role model and participate in a fun activity. This event has been very successful in other areas of CT and we are excited to bring it to our region. You can participate in one or both of the two days.
On Friday evening (the 15th) we will pair two girls with a SWE volunteer to work through the Engineering activities for the SWE Interest Project Award. On Saturday, the volunteers will supervise the older girls with their project as in parallel they work through a Try-it badge with younger Brownie scouts.
All of the activities have been prepared and tested, so volunteers just need to come ready to work with the girls. This event will be in New Fairfield, CT.
